Age: Two years old
Bear arrived at the Rescue from a pound, so we do not have much knowledge of his history. He is a bigger sized dog, but not massive.
This stunning boy is active and loves his walks, so he needs a family that can commit to giving him enough exercise. He will need to be kept on a lead as he has no recall whatsoever at the moment.
We have found him to be a big loveable dope! He loves a bum scratch and dances about with pleasure when he gets one. He is toilet trained, loves to go out in a car and happily hops in. He already knows ‘Sit’ and ‘Paw’.
Due to Bear’s size and unknown history, we will not place him in a home with young children. He is a very strong boy, so needs a handler who is able to control him (as well as putting the time in to train him to walk nicely). We have already been getting him used to wearing a head collar to help on walks which he is doing well with.
We have found Bear to be inquisitive towards other dogs and we have done safe introductions with a few we know. He can say hello to similar size dogs, if he is calm and they are not reactive, but he gets a bit worked up with smaller dogs so this is something that needs work and training with in his forever home.
We feel Bear would do best in a home as the only pet so his new family can focus on his training and he can get all the time and attention he deserves
Bear will need his own secure garden/yard and would no6 be suitable to live in a flat.
Please note we only re-home in Oldham and surrounding areas up to an hour away.
