SPECIAL APPEAL – MAXINE & TATE NEED A VERY UNDERSTANDING HOME

We are looking for a very special home for two nervous cats in our care, Maxine and Tate.  These two must stay together and need a quiet, understanding home with someone who is willing to give them the time, patience and space they need to feel safe and secure.

They have both had different experiences with people, and while they are making progress at their own pace, they will need an adopter who understands that building trust can take a long time.

Maxine – All Black Female

Maxine is a young, neutered girl who we believe may have lived outdoors previously. Since coming into our care, she has settled well into her surroundings, but she remains a very nervous girl.

Maxine will probably always be a nervous cat and may never be one to seek out fuss or enjoy being handled. She is much more comfortable when she is given space and left to do her own thing. With a calm environment and no pressure, she can move around quite happily.

Tate – Black & White Male

Tate is a young, neutered boy who came into our care from a home, wearing a collar. We believe he may have had very little positive interaction with people, and when he first arrived, he was extremely frightened. However, after a long settling-in period, we are delighted to see Tate beginning to enjoy a fuss! He is slowly learning that human contact can be a positive experience, and he is relaxing more and more as his confidence grows.

This is wonderful progress, but Tate will still need plenty of patience, understanding and time to continue building his trust.

What kind of home are we looking for?

We are looking for a quiet, stable and understanding home where Maxine and Tate can stay together and settle at their own pace. Their new family must understand that:

• Maxine may always remain nervous and may never want to be stroked or handled.
• Tate is making lovely progress, but he will need continued patience and time.
• Neither cat should be forced into interaction. They must be allowed to approach people when they feel ready.
• A calm environment, routine and consistency will be essential.
• They must remain together, as we want them to have the reassurance of one another.
• Any existing pets in the household must already be neutered.

These are not cats for someone looking for instant affection or a lap cat. They need someone who can appreciate the little steps forward, celebrate their progress and love them for who they are.
