Volunteering/Events
Pennine Pen Animal Rescue CIO is always looking for keen volunteers to help out. Volunteers can help at the charity shops, as part of the fundraising team, who help to organise many events throughout the year, or in a strategic Trustee position.
Volunteers make a significant contribution to our organisation, and without them, the charity would not be able to operate. Volunteering is very rewarding and can also provide valuable experience for those seeking employment.
The following provides an overview of the volunteering opportunities that we currently have available.
If you are looking to volunteer at our Charity Shops, or as part of the fundraising or Trustee team, please complete and email a volunteer form to penninepentrustees@hotmail.com.
For information about our corporate sponsorship and volunteering packages, please download our Business & Workplace Partnerships brochure, or email penninepentrustees@hotmail.com.
Charity Shops
We are always seeking volunteers to work in our Charity Shops. The following opportunities are available:
- Volunteer shop assistant: This would include sorting donations, operating the tills and assisting members of the public.
- Window designer: If you have a creative flair, opportunities are available to provide support in arranging our shop displays and windows.
- Collections Support: To assist with collecting donated items. This would include lifting some items of small furniture.
For more information, please contact our Brackley Square charity shop on 0161 633 0113.
Fundraising Team
Our fundraising team is only small at present and we are keen to expand the number of volunteers who are able to help out with attending and/or arranging fundraising events.
The following opportunities are available:
- In-store collections: The charity often attends local stores and supermarkets to collect money and raise the profile of the organisation. There are a number of events throughout the year planned, but we are also looking for more people to arrange these events on our behalf.
- Fair Support: The charity holds four fundraising fairs throughout the year. Volunteers are required to help sort donations and set up the room in preparation for the fair and also help assist on the day. This can include staffing a stall to helping prepare refreshments for sale in the kitchen.

Trustee Positions
Becoming a Trustee means helping a charity right at the heart. As part of a small, committed board, you’ll help shape our direction, make strategic decisions, and ensure everything we do stays true to our purpose. It’s about offering guidance, keeping a careful eye on how the charity is run, and supporting long-term sustainability—rather than getting involved in the day-to-day. Above all, it’s a chance to use your experience to make a meaningful difference, helping us continue our work and care for animals who need us most.
We are currently recruiting for the following Trustee positions;
To apply for any of these roles, please email penninepentrustees@hotmail.com
Rescue Centre
At this time, we are not accepting new rescue centre volunteers.
Due to current capacity, staffing levels, and the needs of the animals in our care, we are unable to take on additional volunteers right now. Our priority is ensuring that every animal receives consistent, high-quality care, and that all volunteers are properly trained and supported.
What you can do instead:
- Follow our facebook page for future volunteer opportunities and rescue updates
- Support us through donations or fundraising initiatives
- Consider volunteering in one of our shops or on our fundraising team
