Adoption Procedure

We aim to make all adoptions as easy as possible for both the animal and prospective owners, but as an animal welfare organisation, we take rehoming of our animals very seriously.

Our policy is that all adoptions are subject to a home check prior to the rehoming of any animal in our care to ensure suitability to the surroundings.

Rehoming dogs:

Prospective owners seeking to adopt a dog will be required to walk a chosen dog on at least two separate occasions. This is to ensure that the animal and prospective owner can become accustomed, form a bond and ensure that they are right for each other. All family members who will be living with the dog will be required to attend.

During a home check, evidence will need to be provided that any garden environment is secure.

The adoption fee for a dog is £220. This includes neutering, the first two vaccinations, flea and worm treatment and microchipping.

Rehoming cats:

We do not rehome cats on, or near to, a busy road. In addition, we do not generally rehome cats as ‘indoor’ pets.

The adoption fee for a cat is £130. This includes neutering, the first two vaccinations, flea and worm treatment and microchipping.
