Fufu is a neutered male looking for a very special forever home. He arrived into our care as his family could no longer look after him due to a change in circumstances.
When Fufu first arrived, he was extremely nervous and simply could not understand what was happening to him. Having lived a very sheltered life, he had only ever known his family from birth and had very little experience of meeting new people or exploring the outside world. Being left behind was incredibly confusing and frightening for him, and he found it very difficult to trust anyone or cope with kennel life.
Seeing Fufu so scared and overwhelmed was heart-breaking. We knew the kindest thing we could do was give him the time and space he needed to decompress without putting any additional pressure on him.
Slowly but surely, over the following days, we began to gain his trust. Day by day, Fufu learned that we were not going to hurt him, and he started to feel safer in his surroundings. As his confidence grew, he began to show us what a truly sweet little boy he is. It became clear that his nervousness was simply a result of the shock and fear he was experiencing. Watching him relax, settle, and start to enjoy life again has been incredibly rewarding for all of us.
Today, Fufu is completely bonded with his people and is an absolute star. He has the sweetest nature once he knows and trusts you and is incredibly loyal and affectionate. One of his favourite things to do is curl up on your knee and have a snooze. He is now enjoying walks on a secure harness and lead and is beginning to discover just how wonderful the outside world can be.
Although Fufu has come such a long way, he remains very nervous around new people. As a result, he will need an exceptionally patient and understanding owner who is willing to let him settle in at his own pace. Building a relationship with Fufu cannot be rushed and he will need time, space, and understanding to get to know his new family on his own terms.
Fufu is looking for:
- A single person or couple.
- Someone who is home for most of the day.
- A quiet, non-busy household.
- No children due to his nervous nature.
- A secure garden.
- A home where any existing dogs are of a similar size (all other dogs in the home must already be neutered.)
- A home with cats would be considered.
- An owner who is committed to regular grooming and brushing, as he is likely to be too nervous to visit a grooming parlour.
Please note: Once our dogs are made available for adoption, we are unfortunately unable to hold them for extended periods of time due to the demands of rescue and the number of dogs waiting to come into our care. For this reason, applicants for Fufu must be in a position to adopt within a reasonable timeframe.
Adoption fee: £250.
This includes: Neutering, vaccinations, microchipping, flea and worm treatment, full veterinary health check
