Ghost arrived into our care from another rescue after a heartbreaking start in life. Originally found as an emaciated stray, he was terrified of the world around him and struggled to adjust to his new surroundings. Over time, he began to settle into daily life at the rescue, but after spending nine long months in a busy environment that was slowly overwhelming him, he came to Pennine Pen for a fresh start.
When Ghost first arrived, he was understandably nervous. He did not know where he was or why. But within minutes, he formed a close bond with one of our team members, finding comfort and security in someone he could trust. From that moment on, his progress has been incredible.
Ghost can still be a little unsure when meeting new people, completely understandable given his past, but his growing confidence has amazed us all. Once you earn his trust, he builds an exceptionally strong bond. He is loyal, affectionate, and absolutely adores a good fuss and plenty of attention. Winning Ghost’s trust does not take long, and once you have it, it is something truly special. The love and joy he gives in return make every step worthwhile.
He is an intelligent, active and athletic young dog who needs an owner ready to meet both his physical and mental needs. A quick stroll around the block will not be enough for this clever boy! Ghost thrives on training, loves learning new skills, and picks up commands quickly. He enjoys long walks in all weather (so waterproofs and wellies are a must in winter!) and would be perfect for someone who embraces an active lifestyle.
Ghost walks beautifully on the lead and responds well to basic commands.
He absolutely loves other dogs and enjoys socialising. He has been non-reactive on walks, which is fantastic to see. We believe he could potentially live with another dog of a similar size following successful introductions — and this companionship may even help build his confidence further.
Ghost has also had several grooming sessions since arriving and has been impeccably well behaved, even seeming to enjoy the experience.
Ghost is looking for:
– An adult-only home (aged sixteen years and upwards);
– A secure, private garden where he can safely enjoy off-lead time;
– Someone at home for most of the day, initially, while he settles;
– A patient, understanding owner committed to continuing his training.
Ghost is medium sized, smaller than a general GSD. On pictures, he looks stocky and bigger than he is but he is actually relatively small for his breed.
Please note: Any existing dogs in the household must already be neutered.
