***LONG TERM FOSTER NEEDED***
Dotty is an elderly female who arrived into our care a number of months ago, along with a number of other cats, which all found forever homes.
Sadly, when Dotty arrived, she was extremely underweight, and her overall body condition was very poor. We were not sure how long she had been in such a state and took her straight to our vets for a health check. It was clear she was weak and malnourished. She needed some attention to one of her eyes, and she was leaking motions from her back end. Dotty was put on a course of precautionary antibiotics and had full geriatric bloods (which, for her age and condition, all came back looking pretty good).
As the days went on, Dotty was still very loose in her tray, and it was clear we needed to do further investigations as to why this was. She was put on a sensitivity diet of wet/dry, and she had faecal samples taken, all of which came back clear for any type of infection or parasite that could be causing this.
Dotty was quite weak for the first few weeks but was eating well and happy in herself. After a few weeks, Dotty had gained some weight and seemed physically stronger in herself, but she was still loose in her tray. We, along with the vets, decided to try her on several different gut health pro-biotics, but sadly, it did not help as much as we were hoping it would but it did help things along.
The next step was steroids, which again we were all hoping would work wonders for Dotty, but unfortunately, they did not have much effect on her. After speaking to our vets over the time Dotty has been in our care, it looks like she is a classic case of IBS where she will have good days and bad days in her tray. Dotty is now strong in herself and gained weight. She has a lovely coat and is totally adorable. She is so affectionate and just loves people. That being said, she is now ready to find a home to call her own.
She really deserves her happy ever after, where she can live out the rest of her life in comfort and happiness. Dotty was used to outside access in her previous home, so she would like a garden of her own to potter about in once she is settled. She has lived in a multi-cat household so can live with other cats, and she has also lived with dogs.
Do you have space in your heart for our beautiful older girl?
Please note that all other pets in the home must already be neutered.
