Norman arrived into our care as a stray.  When he arrived, he was extremely underweight, and it was clear to see that he had been living outside for some time. One other thing we noticed on his arrival was his overall co-ordination was off. He was walking around in circles and seemed to have some sort of  neurological problem.

Norman was taken straight to our vets for a full health check. During his health check, the only thing that was picked up was how underweight he was,  but there were no clear signs as to why he his co-ordination was off and why he would walk around in circles. In conjunction with the vets, it was decided to run some bloods to see if they would provide an indication as to why he was presenting with neurological signs.

The blood results took a few days to come back from the lab, but once they did, our vets contacted us to say Norman had tested positive for Toxoplasmosis and needed an extensive course of antibiotics to clear him of the parasite. Left untreated, it can affect the brain, and sadly, with Norman being left untreated for some time, this is why he was/is showing some current neurological signs.

We are hoping that once Norman has finished his full course of antibiotics the neurological side of things will improve over time, but it is highly unlikely that he will ever fully recover and he will always be a quirky boy.

How he is really does not affect Norman in any way. He is still a happy, playful little cat. He just has moments where he circles the floor, but this does not affect him.

Despite Norman being a stray and having been through a lot, at such a young age, he is the sweetest, most affectionate little cat who is always happy to see you. Norman has just started to play with toys on his own, which is a good sign as when he arrived, he was not physically able to do so, but now he likes to roll around on the floor  with them.

He is looking for an indoor only home or a home with an extremely secure, safe garden space he could play out in.

Norman can live with other cats and dogs.

Norman can live with sensible older children.

Please note that any other pets in the household must already be neutered.
